JEBA organizes an open Session with H.E. Mayor of Amman

JEBA organized open session under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Yousef Al Shawarbeh / Mayor of Amman entitled “Future Projects of Greater Amman Municipality”, the session was attended by a number of European Ambassadors and Commercial Attaches, chairmen and representatives of Jordanian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, official institutions and associations in addition to JEBA members from Industry, Trade and Services sectors and other economic sectors representatives. During the meeting, Jamal Fariz, the president of Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA), expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Greater Amman Municipality to provide distinguished services and initiatives that serve the community and the human dimension by planning, investing resources and building partnerships with concerned parties. He mentioned that JEBA is working with public and private sector institutions to achieve national economic objectives in various fields, in terms of organizing and developing the business community in the Kingdom, providing the suitable environment for investment and developing the mechanism of economic services through coordination and cooperation with relevant governmental institutions. He pointed out the role played by GAM through dealing with the great challenges of population migration and the continuation of growth and providing all kinds of support for various cultural, artistic and sporting events that highlight the city's identity. It is worth mentioning that JEBA plays an active role in strengthening the Jordanian-European economic relations and has distinguished ties with the European institutions in which it seeks to serve the Jordanian business community to improve the efficiency of institutions and develop the capabilities of the economic sector to meet the challenges of markets opening, where JEBA extended technical assistances and consultancies to many Industrial and service sectors by attracting a number of qualified Dutch experts as JEBA is the representative of Netherlands Senior Experts Program (PUM) in Jordan since 2002. The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is working on cutting red tape in the provision of its services to boost citizens' confidence in the institution, according to Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh. “GAM is focusing its efforts on developing a digitalization of all the bureaucratic procedures to simplify and create a closer and easier relations between the citizens and the city,” Shawarbeh said. He explained that the new regulation introduced on January 1 — which states that all requests for renovating establishments’ licenses must be presented in an electronic format — has allowed the renewal of more than 30,000 permissions for Ammani businesses. “Our aim is to bring transparency and eliminate bureaucracy for our citizens’ convenience,” GAM's mayor said. Shawarbeh also highlighted the new law for the establishments’ inspections in accordance with GAM’s goals of “transparency and clarity”. “We want to build confidence between the employers and the inspectors; we have received many complaints of bad behaviours from the inspectors and we apologise for that,” Shawarbeh said.
