JEBA organizes Economic Delegation to the Czech Republic


Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA) organized economic delegation to the Czech Republic during the period           19-22 / 9/2018 in cooperation with Amman Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman, Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, Chamber of Commerce Czech-Jordan and the Czech Confederation of Industry with the participation of Jordanian businessmen from various sectors including Contracting and Constructions, Energy and Renewable Energy, Plastic Industries, Hotels and Tourism, Agriculture, Security and Defense.

The delegation started the visit by meeting the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, who assured on the importance of developing Jordanian economic relations with his country in a way that serves both sides and increases the trade exchanges to positively reflect the trade balance.

During the visit, the Czech-Jordanian Business Forum was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic with the attendance of a wide spectrum of Czech businessmen and investors.

The Forum focused on the economic opportunities in the Kingdom in various sectors in addition to the competitive advantage of the Jordanian economy.

On the sidelines of the forum, Jamal Fariz, JEBA President expressed that Jordan seeks to strengthen the economic relations with the Czech Republic by establishing communication networks with the Czech businessmen.

Fariz added that Jordan has signed several agreements with the Czech Republic in various fields and that Jordan has a unique combination of economic features that make it an attractive environment for foreign business and investment and always seeks to build strong relations with many countries to enhance economic and investment relations, in addition to the Kingdom's strategic location which is convenient for trade and services in the region.

He also noted that the Jordanian exports to the Czech Republic last year was 145,000 Euro, while imports amounted to 45 million Euro, therefore; we need to work harder to increase the Jordanian exports in order to adjust the trade balance.

Fariz said that direct airlines will be launched from Prague to Amman and Aqaba in October 2018; which is an important development and a great addition to activate the tourism market between Jordan and the Czech Republic.

H.E. Senator Ziad Al Homsi / Chairman of Amman Chamber of Industry stressed the need to reach preliminary agreements between businessmen in both countries to achieve the desired benefit of the visit, noting that Jordan and the Czech Republic have distinguished relations derived from the leadership of the two countries.

He said that the industrial sector in the Kingdom includes around 18 thousand industrial companies which proved their abilities to work with many international markets through investing free trade agreements.

Al-Homsi added that the Jordanian private sector in general and the industrial sector in particular have worked over the past years to open more cooperation channels and network with the business communities to enhance the exchange of trade, expertise, export and marketing information between Jordan and other countries through organizing trade missions, bilateral meetings and exhibitions.

It’s worth mentioning that JEBA, Amman Chamber of Commerce and Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed cooperation agreements with Chamber of Commerce Czech-Jordan, in addition to cooperation agreements between JEBA and Amman Chamber of Industry with the Czech confederation of Industry.

other cooperation agreements were also signed between JEBA and Czech Association of SMEs and crafts, Business and Investment Development Agency (Czech Invest).

These agreements aim at developing economic and trade relations between the Czech Republic and Jordan, enhancing cooperation mechanisms by encouraging joint projects, in addition to facilitating the participation of businessmen in the economic missions, exhibitions and conferences that will be held in both countries.
