JEBA organizes Bulgarian - Jordanian Business Forum

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has said that Jordan enjoys stability, security besides its strategic location with an environment conducive to investments.

The president's remarks came during the Jordanian-Bulgarian business forum on Sunday, which was convened at the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC). He said bilateral ties would have a bright future, given stakeholders the strong interest to get an investment foothold in the Kingdom.

He added the forum, which is organized by the Amman Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Jordanian-European Business Association (JEBA), is an opportunity to initiate business between the two sides.

Radev, moreover, urged the private sector in both countries to look for new cooperation avenues and to jointly break into export markets.

"I encourage both sides not only to further trade and business, but also to impart information and exchange expertise", Radev told the gathering.

For his part, ACC President Issa Murad said bilateral trade has been growing rapidly in recent years, as Bulgaria currently ranks 65th among biggest trading partners of Jordan.

Jordan, he added, had politically and socioeconomically pioneered at the regional level despite modest resources and potential.

Murad went on saying the Kingdom became a member in the World Trade Organization in 2000, and reached agreements with the world largest economies, such as the U.S., Canada, European Union and Middle East and North African countries.

Furthermore, Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Industry Fathei Jagbeer said the possibility to further consolidate economic ties between Jordan and Bulgaria is vast, in addition to the strategic locations both countries enjoy, which would enable them to be trade gateway to Europe and Middle East.

He also emphasized the importance of cementing economic and trade relations between Jordan and Bulgaria, and to launch joint investment projects in a bid to increase the volume of commercial exchange.

JEBA President Jamal Fariz also underscored the need to boost trade between the two countries and launch mutual enterprises. JEBA plays an effective role in developing ties with European countries, and has reached an agreement with the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency to further strengthen trade cooperation between both countries' small enterprises, stated Fariz.

He also said the forum is an opportunity to hold meetings between stakeholders from both sides to explore broader horizons for cooperation.

Two agreements involving the ACC, Amman Chamber of Industry, JEBA and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry were inked on the sidelines of the forum.

The forum featured a review of the incentives and investment opportunities Bulgaria could provide to business people and highlighted privileges to invest in Jordan.
