The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the competitiveness of Jordanian products and expanding their export capacity to foster economic growth.
During a meeting on Sunday with the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA), Qudah emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the free trade agreements that Jordan has established with numerous countries.
He particularly highlighted the need for an in-depth analysis of the European market, stressing that simplifying the rules of origin between Jordan and the European Union is a crucial step. This, he noted, will facilitate market access for Jordanian products in each European country.
Qudah acknowledged the numerous challenges faced by the national economy due to regional instability and crises. He called for active participation from the private sector to drive economic progress and enhance competitiveness, underlining the importance of ongoing collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The minister also pointed out that aspects of the Economic Modernization Vision’s executive program require review to ensure faster implementation. Discussions are currently underway with industrial and commercial chamber leaders to explore necessary amendments to streamline progress.
Qudah highlighted recent government initiatives aimed at boosting export sectors, including tax exemptions on profits from service exports, along with the launch of an Industrial Support Fund and several projects overseen by the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation. These efforts, he explained, are part of the broader strategy to stimulate growth and improve market conditions.
Addressing the broader economic outlook, Qudah noted that the government is focused on navigating both economic and political challenges while preparing for future demands.
Ali Murad, President of JEBA, praised the government’s coordination with the private sector and welcomed the recent policy measures aimed at boosting economic activity.
Members of JEBA also expressed their appreciation for the government’s ongoing focus on public-private partnerships and its commitment to supporting export-driven sectors.
