Engineer Mohammed Al-Samadi, a board member and the Director of Promotion at the Jordanian-European Business Association (JEBA), emphasized the importance of strengthening economic relations between Jordan and the European Union, noting that these relations are a cornerstone for enhancing trade and investment cooperation between both sides. He explained that Jordan serves as a strategic gateway for Europe to access the markets of the region, opening up significant opportunities in sectors such as trade, renewable energy, and technology.
He pointed out that the European Union is Jordan's second-largest trading partner, with trade between the two sides amounting to 3.2 billion Jordanian dinars in 2023, primarily through exports of phosphate, fertilizers, and pharmaceuticals. Despite agreements like the Jordan-EU partnership, challenges persist, including high transportation costs and difficulties in meeting European standards. He also highlighted the untapped opportunities in these agreements, estimated at around 777 million dollars.
Al-Samadi emphasized that the Economic Modernization Vision focuses on increasing Jordanian exports to European markets by improving product quality, providing training programs for small and medium-sized enterprises, and promoting a green economy. He also stressed the importance of developing logistics infrastructure and digital transformation to enable Jordanian companies to effectively enter European markets.
He expressed that small and medium-sized enterprises would be the biggest beneficiaries of the Economic Modernization Vision, with access to facilitated financing, training, and partnerships with their European counterparts. Additionally, the association organizes the first Jordanian-European Forum under the theme "Digital and Green Jordan."
